GRREN Launches 2 new Cardiac CT physician education courses
Through a variety of live and archived cardiac studies, workstation experience, and didactic lecturing, students receive Level II certification on the 5th day of course instruction. This very original program blends a variety of creative teaching methods, the goals of this course are:
- To meet the Level II criteria for education in Cardiac-CT
- To provide core-competence education in all dimensions of Cardiac-CT, from the CT acquisition phase to the post-processing experience to final interpretation.
Access to live patients undergoing CT imaging, a library of videotaped cases highlighting additional salient points of patient care and the CT acquisition itself enables students to develop a level of comfort with all aspects of the cardiac-CT study. Intense emphasis on the post-processing segment of the examination remains highly important. For this, students are challenged, through clearly defined Clinical Modules, to recognize normal anatomy and to prospectively identify pathology while manipulating cardiac-CT data sets. Each student has his/her own advanced workstation throughout the entire course. Clinical Modules begin with basic didactic orientations, and then move quickly on to supervised post-processing in the presence of expert physicians and 3D technologists, all of whom have extensive teaching experience.
The post-processing component of the educational program is itself extremely innovative and based on the collective experiences of our educational staff who have trained hundreds of physicians over the last several years. Incremental training that begins with basic “buttonology” advances to sophisticated post-processing very quickly, but very methodically. All of this takes place in a state-of-the-art teaching center which is equipped with advanced technological components and IT support, as well as all the accoutrements to support the comfort and full engagement of the students.
